Sophie Allart, Inserm research engineer and biochemist and co-director of TRI-Genotoul, contributed to the discovery of the presence of the Zika virus inside spermatozoa itself. This project was successfully carried out thanks to the constant improvement of super-resolution microscopy (STED), a technique that pushes back the conventional observation limit set at 0.2 µm to a threshold of 23 nm.
