The ImageStreamX is an interdisciplinary instrument that bridges flow cytometry and microscopy. It combines the advantages of both technologies, thereby bringing the power of statistical flow cytometry data to a large number of cellular morphological parameters. This system generates images of cells in flow using magnifications ranging from 20x to 60x. It caters to a wide range of applications (spot counting, nuclear translocation, internalisation, etc.) across various fields: immunology, oncology, parasitology, microbiology, etc.

Technical specifications:
  • a Brightfield laser enabling the measurement of cell size and morphology,
  • a 785 nm darkfield laser providing information on the cell's content and granularity (side scatter),
  • 3 lasers enabling the quantification and localisation of markers of interest in each detection channel: 405nm, 488nm and 642nm,
  • Equipped with a CCD camera, this configuration makes it possible to collect simultaneously up to 6 images of each cell,
  • 3 objective lens sizes: 20x, 40x and 60x,
  • 2 associated software programmes: INSPIRE (acquisition) and IDEAS (statistical analysis).

ISXpictureApplications:
  • morphological analysis,
  • internalisation,
  • cell signalling, nuclear translocation,
  • colocalisation,
  • cellular interactions,
  • cell cycle,
  • apoptosis,
  • spot counting,
  • autophagy and cell death,
  • numerous emerging applications (FISH, FRET, etc.)
