The Region supports imaging

RegionSupport totalling 1 million euros has been awarded to the PRISM Project by the Midi-Pyrénées Region. This project aims in particular to strengthen Toulouse's imaging capabilities through the acquisition of new light microscopes, some of which are equipped to reach the rapidly emerging field of super-resolution. These pieces of equipment, positioned on the platforms of the TRI-Genotoul network, are in line with strategic areas defined at regional and national levels, namely: innovation in the regionalised agri-food chain, translational research in oncology and gerontology, and cellular engineering and regenerative medicine. The beneficiary platforms will shortly inform users of the availability of this equipment, listed below:

  • IPBS: Spinning disk confocal microscope,
  • FR-AIB: New confocal microscope,
  • CBI: Nanoscopy, a super-resolution microscopy technique,
  • I2MC: SIM / PALM, super-resolution microscopy techniques,
  • CPTPP: STED, super-resolution microscopy techniques.

Please note: the PALM (PhotoActivation Localisation Microscopy) and STED (Stimulated Emission Depletion) techniques earned their creators, Eric Betzig, William Moerner and Stefan Hell, the 2014 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
