This training will enable you to acquire the skills for sample preparation and for observation using scanning electron microscopy. This training is divided into two parts. The first part, theoretical, will cover the preparation protocols (critical point and high-pressure freezing) and the operation of a scanning electron microscope. The second part will be devoted to practical work on sample preparation and observation.

Course (3 hours):

  • Preparation of samples
  • Principle of the MEB and the acquisition of images
  • Examples of application to the MEB

Practical Work (13h):

  • Preparation of biological samples using the critical point method
  • Preparation of biological samples by high-pressure cryo-fixation
  • Observation of samples in the MEB
  • Observation of samples in the cryo-MEB

Information and registration

  • Duration: 2 days
  • Public Technician, engineer, researcher in a public or private research laboratory.
  • Prerequisite: Knowledge of biology or chemistry.
  • Worktop CMEAB (UT3 – Rangueil – Toulouse) for the courses and the observation in the MEB. MeTi (UT3 – Rangueil – Toulouse) for the cryofixation.
  • Information and registration with Bruno Payre
