As a four-and-a-half-day intensive event, it will combine theoretical classes (50% - limited to 10 trainees) and practical work (50% in sub-groups of 4 people maximum), interspersed with exercises designed to support trainees in their progress.<\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Employee, TRANSGENE SA<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">OBJECTIVES<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Acquire theoretical foundations in light and electron microscopy, cytometry and data analysis<\/li>\n<li>Understand the possible applications for each technology<\/li>\n<li>Understanding the practical aspect of these methods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">PUBLIC &amp; MODALITIES<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Public<\/strong> Researchers, engineers, and technicians wishing to familiarise themselves with fluorescence imaging techniques<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Staff numbers:<\/strong> Maximum of 10 trainees, practical sessions in sub-groups of maximum 4 trainees with 1 instructor per sub-group<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Evaluation:<\/strong> Throughout the training, practical exercises with solutions will allow the trainee to assess their acquisition of knowledge. Practical work will demonstrate the advantages and limitations of the various systems.<\/h5>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Flow cytometry: principles, components of a cytometer, fluorescence and imaging flow cytometry<\/li>\n<li>Applications in flow cytometry: cell cycle, apoptosis, phenotyping, cell interaction, imaging flow cytometry, cytokine assay, metabolic probes, cell sorting<\/li>\n<li>Microscopy: the different types of light microscopy (bright-field, phase contrast, fluorescence?)<\/li>\n<li>Fluorescence microscopy: labelling, biosensors and applications<\/li>\n<li>The sample under the microscope: light\/sample interaction and sample preparation<\/li>\n<li>The different types of fluorescence microscopes: performance, advantages and disadvantages<\/li>\n<li>Overview of sample preparation methods for transmission electron microscopy (TEM)<\/li>\n<li>Understand the basic principles of transmission electron microscopes<\/li>\n<li>Principles of scanning electron microscopes (SEM)<\/li>\n<li>SEM sample preparation<\/li>\n<li>Overview of data analysis<\/li>\n<li>Application to image analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Practical work (60 %)<\/strong> \u2013 Carried out in small groups on various equipment at the Toulouse imaging platform (widefield, confocal, multiphoton, SPIM microscopes, etc.)<\/h5>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Advantages and limitations of the different systems<\/li>\n<li>Acquisition and analysis of images under the best conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Possibility of carrying out the practical work, for educational purposes, on samples brought in by trainees<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">EQUIPMENT &amp; PERSONNEL<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Widefield, confocal, multiphoton, light-sheet microscopes, cytometers analysers, sorters, cytometers imaging, transmission electron microscopes, scanning electron microscopes.
